ITALIAN motorcycle builder Vyrus has never been a brand to produce quiet, unassuming motorcycles for shy, retiring types. Their latest bike, the Vyrus Aylen 988, is a futuristic-looking sportsbike/naked, that takes the Vyrus concept to the next level.

Powered by a 1298cc, L-twin from the older generation Ducati Panigale, the bike makes use of Vyrus’ now trademark front end design. Looking eerily similar to that of the Bimota Tesi H2 that was unveiled last year, the bike runs a hub-centre steering set up, held in place by two burly front swingarms. The steering system is controlled by a series of complex linkages and levers that transmit the rider’s actions through to the front wheel.

Aside from the funky front end, the bike is a technical tour de force featuring self-suspended bodywork and fuel tank and even some lovely looking carbon fibre exhausts.

If there is one slightly confusing thing about the new Aylen, it’s regarding the category of bike it actually is. It’s got the chassis and engine of a sportsbike, very little fairing to speak of and then some weird handguards that almost look like they’ve come off a supermoto!

And the price for all this carbon fibre excess? Well, if you have to ask it’s probably too expensive and anyway, no official price has been announced. With most of Vyrus’ previous bikes sailing in around the $90k mark, we’d expect this to be a little bit more at least!

Não é que a Vyrus venda por aí além... mas será que à semelhança da cerveja Corona, vai ter também quebras significativas nas (já poucas) vendas? think
